Photo: Thulisa Keyi’s breath taking gown makes headline

Thulisa Keyi’s elegance is always reflected in her dress and her designers just know how to nail that glam look on her. She was dressed in a velvet strapless black gown with a beaded turtled neck-sleeve piece to her farewell event at the Maslow hotel in Pretoria.

The World SA 2018 scooped photos from the event to her social media and the had a lot to say, especially on her gown, desinged by Biji Gibbs, which she will be wearing in the “Designers of the World” portion of the competition.

With the dress, we wanted something that is elegant and proudly South African yet appeals to a global audience. This dress reminds me of myself, simple yet strikingly bold and beautiful. The design of the dress is simple but a lot of work went into ensuring that it fits impeccably. The use of velvet which absorbs colour deeply is what makes this dress strikingly bold and visually appealing. The pattern of the beaded sleeve is inspired by the Xhosa culture, my culture. She said.

Speaking about her plans for Miss World, she said; ‘My plan for Miss World is to represent our country as authentically as I possibly can’.

Thulisa wants the crown, however, if she is unable to get it, she’s still going to be the Thulisa Keyi we’ve always known. “Crown or no crown, I will continue the legacy in the way that I conduct myself, my work and how I impact the lives of those around me”.

The beauty queen appreciated the whole of South Africans for their unending support. She said, ‘South Africans, thank you for all your support. Please continue to follow my journey in Sanya, China.’
